A guide to the glass commissioning process.
Every design is thought long and hard over, which often involves several client meetings, photographing and measuring up the space, and sending image and design ideas before the scaled up visuals are produced. I don't charge for this process of client consultation, until the design has been fully finalised.
These may first be done in small watercolours to give an idea of different designs, but once the dimensions of the window or door have been taken, a scale or true lead line drawing can be created to show how the leads can be attached.
Clients are always welcome to visit my workshop which is between Bradford on Avon and Trowbridge at any point in the process. Choosing glass colours can be fun and as you can see from this image of the glass on my lightbox, it's a challenge to send an image of the progressing piece when it's flat as the transparency and colour looks deadened on a flat surface. Most lead windows will be in the £500 - £1000 region depending on the simplicity, size, and secondary glazing needed.
